Costume designer for theater and film, Le Maire was the executive director of wardrobe at 20th Century Fox Studios from 1943-1960. He was known for the glitter and extravagance of his costumes and won three Oscars for his movie designs. The collection consists of 17 colored pencil drawings, with fabric swatches attached, for women's costumes for the film The Captain from Castile. The drawings (18 x 23 cm.) are mounted on board. Twelve are signed by Le Maire.
